The Terrace Rotary Club is mourning the loss of one of their longtime members in Art Erasmus.
Erasmus, who had initially joined the Rotary Club all the way back in 1983, recently passed away.
He was born during the early years of World War 2 in Europe and emigrated to Canada not long after he and his family fled the Baltics after it was invaded by the Soviet Union.
He went onto to have a career in education, served as the Rotary Club president for a time and had a hand in a project that helped bring clean drinking water to Ethiopia, amongst his many other accomplishments, like participating in a campaign that aimed to immunize children from Polio.
